Condor’s Rule Over The WEAK: Restarting Play – Part 1

Putting The Disc Into Play After A Pull

Condor

Over the first few weeks a common question is, “Where do I put the disc in play from?

The answer can be loosely divided into two categories: Putting the disc into play after a pull (This Week) and Putting a disc into play after a turnover (Next Week).

There are some important definitions:
Field of Play: The rectangular area bounded by the sidelines and the back end lines
Playing Field Proper: The field of play excluding the endzones
Brick Mark: Center of the field 18 meters from the goal line of the receiving team

Putting the disc into play after a pull

  1. If the disc comes to rest in the Field of Play on a pull it is put into play at that spot. This means in the disc comes to rest at the back corner of the endzone, that is where play starts from.
  2. If the disc lands in the Field of Play and rolls out of bounds the disc is taken from the closest edge of the Playing Field Proper. This means if a disc rolls out of bounds at a sideline, it is put into play at that point. It also means that a disc that rolls out the end line is taken at the goal line at the point nearest to where it rolls out. To further clarify: if the disc rolls out the middle of the back of the endzone, the disc is put into play at the middle of the front of the endzone on the goal line)
  3. If the disc crosses the sideline while in the air past the Brick Mark and lands out of bounds the disc is put into play at the Brick Mark.
  4. If the disc crosses the sideline while in the air before the Brick Mark and lands out of bounds the disc is put into play in the center of the field inline with the where it crossed the sideline.
